Youth Speak Out is an annual education initiative run by Reconciliation Tasmania since 2018 celebrating the next generation’s views. Tasmanian students from Year 5–12 enter art, multimedia, speeches, letters, poems, or whole class projects expressing students’ views about reconciliation. Selected artworks from the 2023 Youth Speak Out are highlighted in a special online exhibition hosted by Libraries Tasmania.
In 2024, thanks to the generous support of Hobart Airport, Libraries Tasmania and MyState Bank Foundation, a special Youth Speak Out: Travelling Exhibition was featured at Libraries Tasmania in:
- Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts, State Library of Tasmania, nipaluna/Hobart
- kanamaluka / Launceston Library
- liminaturi / Devonport Library
- pataway / Burnie Library
- Queenstown Library
Students from Year 5 – Year 12 can enter Youth Speak Out with art, multimedia, speeches, letters, poems or whole class projects expressing their views about reconciliation. Each year the theme follows the National Reconciliation Week (NRW) theme. Selected students are invited to Parliament and Government House to meet and present their work to the Premier, Ministers and the Governor.
