LOCAL ACTION
LANDs for learning and change
Local Action Network Dialogues (LANDs) for reconciliation are building place-based learning and action to advance reconciliation through:
- Grass roots education for change
- Supporting First Peoples’ initiatives and self-determination
We are groups of like-minded people who are helping build the community understanding we need for a just Australia, where we all walk together to make change.

What do local action networks do?
- Build relationships and respect at a community level
- Join together to educate ourselves and others through learning circles, creating community events, investigating regional history, and much more
- Learn about and support the initiatives of Aboriginal organisations and communities in the local area, including cultural activities and respecting country
- Promote reconciliation in our networks including local networks.
Local initiatives include:
- Social gatherings celebrating reconciliation events and achievements.
- Discussions to find new ways to learn about and walk with Tasmania’s First Peoples
- Supporting and promoting Aboriginal community events
- Organising local events such as bush food stalls, reconciliation information tables, or film nights
- Workshops with community groups, cultural burning in land care, and much more
- Researching and supporting recognition of significant local places and stories
