RECONCILIATION IN EDUCATION
Narragunnawali
Reconciliation Tasmania has partnered with Reconciliation Australia to support schools and early learning services in Tasmania to take action toward reconciliation in the classroom, around the school and with the community.
Narragunnawali is Reconciliation Australia’s program that supports all schools and early learning services in Australia to foster a high level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.
Our workshops, held quarterly, also aim to offer localised information such as the Orb, resources for your RAPS and other Reconciliation in Education initiatives.
To support your commitment to Reconciliation in Education, we host workshops across Tasmania designed to introduce educators to Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) through Reconciliation Australia’s Narragunnawali online platform.

The site is free to access, however if you create a personal Log in and Password, you can also access all areas including webinars, RAP actions and Curriculum Resources.

Reconciliation Action Plan
A Reconciliation Action Plan or RAP is is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation and is offered to Schools and Early Learning services via Narragunnawali, online. Narragunnawali is a well designed, easy to navigate platform to ensure your intentions for Reconciliation in Education can be planned, enacted and recognised, Australia wide.
There are 40 different, detailed Actions for you to choose, (only 14 of which are mandatory) so your RAP journey can be individually tailored to suit your school or education centre.
You can even enter the Narragaunnawali Awards, held biennially, to celebrate outstanding and genuine reconciliation initiatives. Find out more here.

The Orb
Teaching of Tasmanian Aboriginal Histories and Cultures. It embraces a number of Aboriginal ways of being, knowing, thinking and doing including learning through Country, narrative and cultural practice with curriculum resources and reflecting local values and knowledge.

Be A Voice For Generations
Keep up the momentum for change: the theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023 is Be a Voice for Generations.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023 encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.
We are seeing more people speaking up, speaking the truth, asking the hard questions, seeing the hard facts, and informing themselves about issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Come walk with us
In Partnership with the University of Tasmania (UTAS), Come Walk With Us, is our innovative, thought provoking and hands on workshop for all sectors and communities, that shows the impact of past events on current policies and attitudes in Tasmania.
Come Walk With Us is a cultural safety program developed by UTAS under consultation with Tasmanian Aboriginal Advisors and their community members.
The workshops are facilitated by Reconciliation Tasmania employees and enable participants to gain cross-cultural skills and to integrate Aboriginal issues across their businesses and communities.
Participants are invited to engage in hands on activities that will give them a greater awareness of past issues and their significance to current and future outcomes for Aboriginal Tasmanians.
