Transition for Local Action Networks

Local Action Networks (LANs) are grassroots, community-led reconciliation groups operating across urban and regional Tasmania. These groups play an important role in bringing people together, promoting reconciliation and building greater awareness, understanding and respect for Tasmanian Aboriginal peoples, cultures and histories.
LANs are driven by passionate volunteers and community members committed to reconciliation and creating positive change at a local level, organising a range of activities throughout the year. These include community conversations, guest speakers, film nights, on Country experiences and other events that encourage learning, connection and meaningful engagement.
Historically, LANs have operated under the umbrella of Reconciliation Tasmania. The groups are now transitioning to operate independently, providing greater local ownership, flexibility and responsiveness to the needs and aspirations of their local communities.
This transition recognises the important role of grassroots reconciliation and the value of empowering local communities to develop activities, build relationships and pursue reconciliation opportunities that reflect their local context.
